Michigan State University Street Teams
Street Teams is a student-run, creative collaboration program within Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences that partners students with non-profit organizations in the Greater Lansing area to assist with media projects. Street Teams members consist of interdisciplinary groups of students that work together to produce creative solutions while giving back to the community.
As a dedicated team member for two years, Madelyn assisted two non-profit organizations with media projects and assumed the role of Street Teams Graduate Student Coordinator during her master’s program where she oversaw a team of 28 undergraduate students in the production of media projects including creating promotional videos, updating websites, strategizing new social media tactics, and rebranding the organization.
Graduate Student Street Teams Coordinator
In the 2022-23 school year, Madelyn held a leadership position within Street Teams, overseeing a group of 28 undergraduate students producing media projects for four non-profit organizations: CASA for Kids (serving Barry, Ingham, and Eaton County), The Fledge, Old Town Commercial Association, and the Constellation Cat Cafe. Through regular weekly collaboration with each team, Madelyn managed project timelines, ensured the timely delivery of high-quality projects, and implemented innovative team-building strategies to foster a collaborative environment among team members throughout the duration of the projects.
Street Teams Closing Celebration
In April 2023, Madelyn delivered a speech during the closing celebration of the 2022-23 academic year, highlighting the student experience within the Street Teams program. Speaking to an audience consisting of current members, faculty, staff, non-profit partners, and community members, Madelyn emphasized the significant impact of this program on students. Her remarks shed light on the valuable opportunities, personal growth, and enduring connections fostered by the Street Teams program.

Greater Lansing Food Bank
Throughout the 2021-22 school year, my team engaged in a collaborative partnership with the Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) to develop compelling promotional materials to educate and inform the community about their mission and impact. As a key contributor, my focus was on creating an engaging informational booklet, working closely with two teammates, to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing design that effectively showcased GLFB's initiatives.
Our work was presented at Michigan State University's Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum through which we strengthened our presentation skills, received constructive feedback, and engaged in scholarly discourse.

Woldumar Nature Center
During the 2020-21 school year, my team collaborated with Woldumar Nature Center to develop comprehensive resources catering to visitors, donors, and members. Our primary objective was to enhance organization and consistency, enabling the non-profit organization to effectively handle the surge in program enrollment and hospitality requests. To achieve this, we created a content creation guide, designed a series of informative brochures, and produced a captivating video highlighting the center's offerings. As a member of the team, my focus centered specifically on creating the brochures showcased below, ensuring their visual appeal and informative content aligned seamlessly with Woldumar Nature Center's mission.
